Bonkers Paddle Boarding  Lessons

Paddle boarding Lesson - Introduction   (all equipment provided)

So you've seen it - it's cool - it's relatively easy to get started -and now its time you really should give it a go. Like everything, if a professional can show you some basics, you know you will be doing it right, safely and be able to make the most of your time on the water. This is the perfect session if you want to start from scratch, or maybe you have tried it before, and would like to go through it again to make sure you are doing it properly, efficiently and as safely as possible. This could be the only tuition session you ever need, depending on your aspirations, as we cover so much and guarantee to get you up and paddling.

All our sessions have at least TWO INSTRUCTORS on site - Kim and Alex (this is important for safety and so we can give you the BEST experience, maximum teaching and a truly tailor made experience) - we will cover; equipment, setting up, launching and landing, getting to grips with the board, standing up (and then relax, breath and we can then show you even more...) stance, correct paddling techniques, how to go straight, safety and rescue and more.

We have been teaching SUP from when it was invented - and perfected our skills to ensure you get the right tuition, fun, and the best possible SUP experience.  - all our boards are carefully chosen to help you learn and then progress.

This isn't just a 'taster' that other centres run. This is a full tuition sessions with our top instructors - teaching you everything you need to know, not only to get up and paddling, but invaluable information so you are doing it properly for the future. We will tailor it to YOU.

River Trip included - the focus is on the fun lesson, but depending on the conditions, this also includes an introductory RIVER TRIP up the most beautiful section of the River Avon, before returning to the full facilities at our purpose built centre.

Paddle boarding Lesson - Introduction   (all equipment provided)

We are of course operating things very differently due to Covid 19 and are strictly following the Government guidelines. There are so many reasons to choose Bonkers for your paddleboarding

  • We have our own PRIVATE car park, back field and our own private river frontage and launch area.

  • Alex and Kim have 30 years experience teaching watersports and 10+ years teaching paddleboarding in Pershore

  • We have a strict book in advance system with time periods between each arrival to ensure you will have your own safe, clean space.

  • We are loving teaching in smaller groups, forced upon us by 2020 restrictions.  But, we are happy to make it cheaper for you if you come as a family group, or talk some friends that you know into coming too. Perfect !!

By restructuring our lessons to this new format, you will get coaching TOTALLY TAILORED to you. If you've done a bit already, no problem, we can focus on improver skills, paddle strokes, or what ever you would like to learn

Private Tuition

We arrange private tuition midweek - and it's just £50 an hour including all the equipment

The best way to tailor every minute of your session totally to you. Whether its your first go, or you are looking to perfect your paddle stokes, or learn a specific set if skills, these session guarantee to deliver you a fast track to success.

Paddleboarding is so accessible and relatively easy, in as much as anyone can quite quickly learn to 'do it'. But just to be able to stand up and 'do it' is just scratching the surface of its full potential. There is so much to learn in paddleboarding, more than any of us realised when we started. In other sports top athletes train with a coach as often as they can because they know it works, and paddleboarders are starting to realise this too.

If you love paddling now, but have never had an official 'lesson' - or maybe had a brief taster somewhere else, we absolutely guarantee that we can make your time on the water even more fun and even better. You will love it even more when you know you are doing it properly and you will get more from your time on the water.

As well as improving paddle techniques fairly instantly, we will cover loads in your session and send you home with some practise drills to use on your continued learning curve. During your session we will always chat about safety and depending on what you want we can also cover equipment, where to land and launch and if you wish even things like tides, river flow and more.... We don't retail (deliberately, as its a nightmare for SUP), but we know as much about the SUP retail business and equipment as anyone, so we can genuinely give you honest and unbiased information on equipment as part of this session - and you can try different boards too.

Higher Level sessions - Advanced Techniques

Through the year, Bonkers have a comprehensive series of advanced tuition sessions, and weekly club gatherings. We can go through these in details with you in person.

So if you haven't paddled with us before, then you need to book one of the following:

1. Intro lesson (more than a basic intro - teaches you loads)

2. Private tuition (midweek only)

3. Surfari -  intro river trip (own board)

Once you have been on one of the above sessions, you know how we do things, where our kit is, our safety procedures and we will know your level of paddling. We can then recommend the best route for your progression. Sometimes a single session is all people need, as each session will make a huge difference and you will often learn all you need to know - and you just need to go paddling, or hire, to put it all into practise.... But we can help you with your progression and organise your next session.

This could be:

Coming back with the group you have just paddled with for the next stage

Hire of boards and hire of touring equipment

Ladies evening coaching sessions

'wet sessions' were we all get in the water to prove you can get back on, and learn rescue techniques

River Trips

Skills building sessions

weekly club sessions

Whilst paddleboarding (standing up and propelling yourself along) is relatively simple, there really is so much to learn and progress with. As well as refining your paddling stroke, there are loads of fun skills to learn like step back pivot turns, going sideways, sculling strokes, support strokes, jumping around and moving your feet, kit and planning and rescue techniques (and so much more ;0)

SUP Yoga

1.5 hour session

(allow longer for set up, and refreshments afterwards !)

These are always fully booked

This is not just doing some yoga moves on SUP's - this is a FULL ON YOGA SESSION

Most people have either done yoga before and fancy doing it on the water    OR

They already SUP and fancy doing the yoga session

Bonkers have been running SUP Yoga for 4 years now.

To do Yoga you need the good stable boards that BONKERS have (not just any old boards)

You also need a PROPER YOGA INSTRUCTOR (not just a paddle coach who has done a course)

That's exactly what we do at Bonkers.

But there's more..... we also have the perfect location. The creek opposite our centre has a perfect flow of water entering it. Its the feed for the HEP. There is a line of buoys that we tie on to, so all the boards sit in the perfect position.

SUP YOGA - we thought it was a fad - until we tried it - it's awesome. It's so lovely be in the perfect, peaceful outdoors venue (well, apart from the odd swan - see pictures below...

the woobles make the exercise so much better - its great fun and so rewarding.

The Avon is an amazing river - and we are the specialists on the Worcestershire/Warwickshire Avon

River Avon Intro SURFARI's                   New for 2021

Do you have your own board? but fairly new to it all? Well - you've made a major commitment, so you might as well fast track your learning and have a load of fun at the same time. This session will definitely make you look like you know what you're doing ;0) Are you holding your paddle properly? (yes you probably are) but we can look closer, guarantee to improve your paddling, give you loads of tips so you know you what you should be doing, (and how to look like you know what you are doing) and give you some training drills to take away - and all rolled into a lovely trip on the best part of our beautiful river.

Can you stand up and paddle, but may not have had much tuition? we'd love to help.....

Do you fancy paddling a short achievable river trip with an instructor ? you don't need much experience to book onto this course. You should have your own board (contact us if not) and be able to stand up and propel yourself along.

This will include loads on input about safety, choosing kit and location, paddling techniques, and an intro into what to do if it all goes wrong.

This is a great course, hour and a half, covering a river trip, and loads of valuable information from our experienced team

Using your own board - Intro Surfari = £60 per person. (if you have a board, but want to try some of our lovely equipment, like waist leashes, or wetsuits, then this is all included)

Every time you do one of these sessions you will love it and learn more so If you book onto a second or more sessions its £40 per person.

We need 3 people minimum to run this. If you arrange a group of 3 people, we can do it a date and time that totally suits you
